Our new Shisa dogs, protecting our domain

The male shisa dog posted at our gate is said to frighten away all evil spirits and bad luck as they enter the home. His mouth is open to release any existing bad spirits surrounding our domain. This is a borrowed talisman from the Chinese and most popular here on Okinawa.Posted by Picasa

The female shisa dog that now stands guard at our gate. She is said to keep the good spirits and good fortune that enter the gateway in her closed mouth. Posted by Picasa

Dinner at Tepanyaki Goen

James, Lisa and Jamie at our favorite Tepanyaki restaurant. Here, you actually order the raw meats, seasoned the way you like, and then cook them on the built in table grill or "tepa." It's all you can eat, so you better be hungry. Posted by Picasa
