OUR OKINAWAN ADVENTURE AND BEYOND, 2005-2009
Courtesy of the USMC, James and I have been stationed in Okinawa, Japan since December 2005. We hope this site will best convey what has been the adventure of a lifetime, through Asia and beyond! Stay tuned for our Stateside adventures as we prepare to separate from the Marine Corps in the summer of 2009.
Memories of Mt. Fuji
The still morning of our climb
Let's climb this thing!!
savoring the first moments of morning
misty mountains below
the peace of morning
James, the hiking master. ;)
Time for a break, honey!
so many steep switchbacks
taking a break from rock climbing. ;)
Ooh rah! I can hike with the best of 'em.
commemorating our efforts with a stamp for our walking sticks.
It's amazing being at level with the clouds
Torii in the sky...
snowy peaks near the Summit
James approaches the final torii gate.
Shinto Shrine at the summit.
Christianne, in the meantime, was resting a few stations below at the Fuji Inn.
Time for the trek downward
the mist was ghostly...
like something in a movie...dreamy..
Our Day at Shuri Castle, World Heritage Site
simple beauty on the way to Shuri Castle
We chose to begin our vacation with a visit to the castle before leaving for the Fuji tour.
